Review: Belly Up Smokehouse & Saloon

We were looking for a restaurant that served great barbeque during our trip to Chicago and the concierge at our hotel recommended Belly Up Smokehouse and Saloon, located in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood at 1132 S Wabash Ave., Chicago, IL 60605.

We ordered the Belly Up Platter, which included the choice of three meats and three sides. We chose brisket, pulled pork and ribs along with mac and cheese, mixed vegetables and fries. The brisket was tender and the pork was soft, moist and flavorful. Finally, the ribs were the bomb! They were meaty, juicy and tender.

The mac n cheese was creamy and delicious, it was such a big hit my youngest even ate a good amount. She's very picky about her mac n cheese, but she ate this, so it must have been good. The barbeque portion sizes were great for sharing, but the sides were small, so we ordered extra, but all and all they served up a good amount of food with the platters and we enjoyed it.

Our favorite sauces; Carolina Gold with a sweet mustard flavor and Tangy Heat with Sriracha and a hint of sweetness.

The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was laid back and relaxed with cool country décor. It has saloon in the name, so ya know people are going to be drinking, but it was very family friendly and even with the TV's, it wasn't loud.

I'm always looking for a deal, so the next time I'm in town I'll have to check out their $10 lunch and all day Tuesday Happy Hour specials. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and we're looking forward to visiting again in the very near future. Next time I won't leave with out trying the candied bacon, just thinking about it makes my mouth water!

This is not a sponsored post, just my thoughts!
