American Girl Place - Chicago

Welcome to every little girls baby doll wonderland, American Girl Place - Chicago. With two daughters and a couple nieces, I've visited this store more times then I would like to admit. Besides the small fortune I've spend here it's always exciting and fun for myself and the girls.

The American Girl Place is located on the Magnificent Mile, 835 N. Michigan Ave. Chicago IL 60611, at the Water Tower Place shopping mall. The two story flagship location has something for everyone and will have your special girl on cloud nine.

When you arrive, you'll want to stop out front for a quick picture in front of the window displays at AG because they are always so beautifully done.

AG really does make girls feel celebrated, supported and empowered. Throughout the store you'll see inspiring statements like the one pictured above "Celebrating Girls of Yesterday and Today". It's nice for the girls to see positive images and girl power promoted at every turn.

Dolls:

Truly Me Dolls

WellieWishers Dolls

Every time we visit, there is something new to see. In addition to the historical BeForever dolls, you'll find Bitty Babies, WellieWishers and Truly Me dolls to choose from in addition to furniture, accessories, clothing, books, movies and games.

Accessories:

The girls can even get the same matching outfits as their dolls. I found a special offer, $10 off with any $50 purchase and my youngest was able to snagged a deal on a new outfit for her doll. AG products can be more on the expensive side, but it's possible to find great promotions and deals, just keep your eye out for signage and don't hesitate to ask about them at the customer service desk.

Books:

American Girl books include historical and contemporary fiction, advice and activities, mysteries, early readers and magazines. My oldest, vivacious reader spotted books on sale and decided to take advantage of the promotion they were running on selected AG books for $3.

AG also has the coolest displays setup that capture each of the historical dolls spirit. The kids imaginations really run wild when exploring all the different interactive displays. As you can see from the picture above they really get into the act and become transported in time into the dolls world.

Doll Hospital:

Unfortunately, during this trip we had to make a stop at the doll hospital. My little princess had a major mishap with one of her sisters favorite AG dolls and she had to be admitted ASAP.

Note to parents and children: if you want to save yourself a trip to the doll hospital, never cut the string hanging from the AG dolls neck. My daughter learned this the hard way and her doll ended up decapitated.

The admittance process was quick and easy. For $39.95, including tax and shipping her head was reset and the doll was released from the hospital and shipped to our home with a certificate of good health, hospital gown and socks, ID bracelet and a get well card.

Doll Hair Salon:

My youngest daughter chose to use her money to treat her doll to a trip to the Doll Hair Salon. This was a fun experience for the little one, she was able to select the dolls hair style, ribbons and stand up close to watch the hair transformation.

The hairstyles range in price from $10 to $25 and there are numerous styles to choose from. She chose a $10 style and both girls hair looked beautiful. We found some good deals and didn't spend much money, but most importantly we enjoyed a great experience at The American Girl Place. You can spend hours there shopping, exploring and hanging out with the special girl in your life. Whenever we're in Chicago it's on our go to list of places to visit.
