Garrett's Popcorn Shop, Chicago

If I'm in Chicago, you'll catch me at Garrett's Popcorn Shop, it's a must! I love their Chicago mix popcorn, and I won't leave the city without it!

We visited the Garrett's Popcorn Shop located at 625 North Michigan Ave., Chicago IL 60611, off Michigan Ave. and Ontario St. My father-in-law always use to say if an establishment is busy then it passed his test. Well this place usually has a line around the corner, but on this mid-afternoon weekday there were only a few people in front of us, so with great anticipation we walked right in.

Garrett's has been a Chicago tradition since 1949. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and now it's become a tradition in our family too. It's so popular that it can be found in most major cities in the United States, as well as other countries around the world. And if you have a craving for this delicious popcorn you can have it shipped directly to your home.

The aroma can be smelled around the corner. It's intoxicating when you walk through the doors. It's hot, fresh and tastes so good. I always order more then I planned to, but it's still never enough. We always leave the city wishing we would have bought more popcorn. You can purchase popcorn in tins or bags, but for my budget, the bags are reasonably priced at less than $10 for a large, plus with my family the popcorn doesn't last long enough to need a tin.

My favorite flavor is Garrett's Chicago mix, which consists of combining sweet CaramelCrisp and savory CheeseCorn. Other flavors include buttery, almond, cashew, macadamia, and pecan CaramelCrisp. They also offer other limited time seasonal flavors. When we were there, they had buffalo ranch flavors. You can sample as many flavors as you like, so we did! I must admit, I didn't love the buffalo ranch mix as much, but it's nice to try it before you buy it.

I have a funny confession, when I was about 9 months pregnant I broke my tooth on a corn kernel while munching on a bag of Chicago mix. Despite the broken tooth, I still wanted to eat more popcorn...it's that addictive!

It was just me and the kids, so I thought a large bag would be sufficient...boy was I wrong. We finished it off before we made it to the Water Tower Place, only one block away. How crazy is that? We didn't even have any popcorn left to share with daddy. We enjoyed every last bite. Next time we'll have to buy two bags.

This is not a sponsored post, just my thoughts!
