Review: Tusker House - Animal Kingdom

Lunch at the Animal Kingdom's Tusker House Restaurant was a great opportunity for my family to try new foods and have a fun and interactive character dining experience at the same time.

 Characters

Goofy

Mickey

Donald

Daisy

We were joined by Safari Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Mickey. They posed for pictures, gave high fives, hugs, kisses and autographs. The characters were delightful and showered the children with attention by spending ample time at each table. With maracas in hand the characters got the children on their feet for a parade and sing-a-long. It was super cool to see how much fun they were having, even the parents got loose and engaged in the festivities!

 Food We Ate

Tusker House offers a family-style dining buffet consisting of African inspired flavors and dishes such as Marrakesh couscous, curried chicken, samosas, taboulleh, black eye pea salad, hummus, peri peri salmon, watermelon and feta salad. In addition to the African fare, there were traditional offerings including kid friendly favorites like macaroni and cheese, green beans and corn dog nuggets. The curried chicken and salmon were my absolute favorite dishes, a little spicy, but I loved it. My husband and I are very adventurous eaters and appreciated the variety of different flavors.

The Buffet

The buffet truly had something for everyone

The best part was the laid back and relaxed atmosphere. We indulged in a plethora of delicious cuisine, and were able to take our time and really enjoy each others company with great conversation without being rushed.

Decor

The decor was neat too. When you walk into the restaurant you feel as if you've entered into another place and time. Disney went above and beyond to give you that authentic African feel. The theme comes alive through the colorful fabrics and cloths hung throughout and draped on the ceiling. The beautiful African artifacts juxtaposed to the natural earth toned walls and rustic wooden chairs and furniture pulls everything together so well.

Sweet Treats

Allergy free - egg-less treats for mom

They also provided a wide variety of desserts from fruit tarts, peanut butter mousse bars, chocolate chunk and oatmeal raisin cookies. The chef even granted me an array of delectable allergy free, egg-less treats. The service was excellent and overall, this was a wonderful experience for the entire family and we would return without a doubt.
