Dinner at Skylon Tower Revolving Dining Room - Niagara Falls

Who can resist a meal with an amazing view? We ended our Canadian vacation by spending our final evening visiting Niagara Falls. We arrived hungry around 4 p.m., just in time to take advantage of the early dinner special at the Skylon Tower's Revolving Dining Room.

The restaurant is about 775 ft. above the falls. We got lucky, and were able to walk right in with no reservation and no waiting. To reach the restaurant we sped to the top of the tower in 52 seconds, inside the glass enclosed "Yellow Bug Elevators". It was slow enough that we could still take in the  falls and skyline views on the way to the top.

Skylon Tower built 1964-65

The weather was great, but it was very hot the day we visited. As we were being seated  I was quite happy that we decided to have dinner and view the falls from this incredible vantage point. What a stunning view of the American and the Bridal Veil Falls from our table.

The Food:

The 4:30 and 5 p.m. early dinner special has its own menu that includes a garden salad, select entrée, bread and chocolate Mousse Chantilly dessert for $39.95 Canadian.

Entrée Choices:

Beef Prime Rib of Beef au Jus
or
Beef Tenderloin Strips Stroganoff With Linguine
or
Grilled Fresh Salmon Filet
or
Tender Breast of Chicken Cordon Blue
(Chicken Breast Stuffed With Ham and Swiss Cheese Roasted Red Pepper Cream Sauce)

My husband and I wanted to celebrate with a nice filling meal because it was the last meal of our vacation before we embarked on our journey home. So, we figured we couldn't go wrong with the Beef Prime Rib. This prime rib dinner was so delicious, that all that was left on our plates were the juices. Listen, I rarely eat bread these days, but that day, I wanted to use the bread to sop up every last bit of juice and flavor off of that plate. #Yum

The children were given the cutest menus; which also doubled as great souvenirs. The kids menu consisted of a couple of typical kid friendly options such as:

Spaghetti With Meatballs and Salad
or
Chicken Fingers With Plum Sauce and French Fries

The final option was Beef Prime Rib of Beef au Jus and our older kids, with their refined palates, were stoked to have this option. I think it made them feel grown-up and sophisticated because they were certain their younger sister wouldn't be interested. They were correct, as she was equally as excited to learn that chicken fingers were an option.

This was the children's introduction to Prime Rib and they ate every last bite and continue to rave about how good dinner was at the spinning restaurant.

Our youngest enjoyed her chicken fingers and even had a few leftover for a little snack in the car on the way home. I was pleased with the size and quality of the kids meals considering the price was $16.95.

The meal was a splurge, but worth every penny and it did help that the price was in Canadian dollars because the American conversion saved us a little on the overall price of the meal. We were able to stay awhile and enjoy a leisurely meal, the restaurants dining room turns 360 degrees in an hour allowing for an ever-changing view.  We enjoyed great service and lovely ambiance. Everyone enjoyed their meals immensely, our family time together and soaking in the views.

The view of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls from our table.

The Chocolate Mousse Chantilly came with our dinner special and it was tasty, but we were given the option to upgrade our dessert options for additional cost and everything sounded so good we couldn't resist. I guess it was the cherry on the top of our wonderful vacation.

I've been on a pie kick lately, so the individually baked Apple Pie "A la Mode" was calling my name. It was as delicious as it looks too!

The hubs ordered the Warm Home Baked Pecan Pie With Vanilla Ice Cream. For research purposes I tried his pie and OMG, it was a perfectly made pecan pie. It was so great it reminded me of the amazing pies our late uncle use to make during the holiday seasons.

My oldest chose the Skylon's Baked Praline Cheesecake With Whipping Cream and Candied Pecans. Did you say Candied Pecans? Ok, I'm gonna need to taste that cheesecake too! That cheesecake was so good it had me reminiscing about that time in New Orleans when I ate way too many Praline candies and ended up with a toothache... but it was worth it.

We received free admission up to the observation decks with our dinner purchase. I loved watching the kids ooh and ahhhh as they took in the breathtaking views of the falls. I sure hope they remember these experiences and moments we spent seeing new things, trying new flavors and hanging out together.

After dinner we headed down to the Family Fun Center on the lower level to play a few games while our tummies digested and... let me be real, we were way too full to walk down the hill to the falls after such a grand meal.

The Views:

We even saw a beautiful rainbow while viewing the falls from Falls View Boulevard. That was a perfect walk off to end our trip to Canada.
